Johannes Vermeer's The Concert [1660], which was stolen from Boston's Gardner Museum in 1990.There has never been a painter who has stuck so vigorously to what his optic nerve reported as Vermeer of Delft [1632-1675]. All that he wanted was "tranquility in order to enjoy fine discrimination."
